Dawn: By actiivity I assume you mean fun and games as opposed to exercise, Tai Chi and support groups. The most popular activity is card playing which is played everyday including Saturday euchre tournaments. Games include: Pepper, Pinochle, Euchre,Hand and Foot, Men's Cards, Canasta, Cribbage and Duplicate Bridge both Howell and Mitchell movement on Tuesday nights (because the bridge players don't want to be confused with people going to the "senior center".
Penny Bingo is very well attended on Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 to 4pm.
The new Wii bowling is a big hit too.
Also the Line Dancing and hobby groups like stamp collectors, coin club, sewing club and scrap bookers. aaron

Unfortuanately, its still card games. We offer Bridge, Cribbage, Pinochle, Euchre, Poker and collectively they attract the most people. Tennis is next with 80 people registered for our summer league.

Our evening dance once a month with a local bluegrass band is very successful. Lots of dancers as well as "people watchers".

Our most popular activity is our monthly dinner/dances. Our dinners are held at our middle school, we do the cooking and then we have a dance band play for two hours. They have a great time and there is an average of about 150 for each dance. We also offer a second dinner night during the month featuring local talent and those aren't as well attended. The fee is $5.

If you mean progam along with activity, our monthly Health Odyssey brings in 150 each month. Fitness classes are the ones growing, while cards remain stable. We look forward to computer classes offered by our local college at the center next.

Our most popular activities on a regular basis are Line Dancing and still Bingo. Cards (euchre) and Bible study are very well-attended at times. Tai Chi is popular when we can get it. Our parties of all types are the very well attended. How is Pickleball and Zumba Gold working out for the centers who have it? Thinking of starting Pickleball for winter activity. Any feedback would be great.

Cards are big. Bridge, pinochle and euchre are popular. This week I saw a group of eight gathered around a table playing "31". It was a gang I'd never seen before! We've had the happy fortune of having informal groups gathering in the dining room after lunch for euchre. It's great to see people hanging around to socialize in this way. So many just eat and run.
Fitness classes have been growing in the past year. Our golf group is wildly popular (discounted greens fees--who can complain about that??).

One of the many popular activites at the Monroe Center for Healthy Aging is our Lunch and Learn series. With daily advances in technology, health and wellness many older adults are taking a proactive appraoch and personal responsibiity for their own state of health.
The challenge for the health care system is outreach and access to the older adult market. We are approached almost daily by health care providers and vendors wanting to do a presentation at the Center.
Our Lunch and Learn program allows them the opportunity. Seniors enjoy lunch and a social activity while learing about health issues, prevention of disease, and healthy aging initiatives they can practically use in thier life. We have a commercial kitchen so we provide the lunch (sit down, family style), provide promotion, local elected officials and community leaders serve and bus tables and the health care professional provides the presentation. Our charge is $1,300 and approximately 150-175 participants attend.
The program generally runs from 11am to 12:30 depending upon the question and answer period. aaron

Exercise and other fitness programs have the largest number of participants. Currently, Zumba Gold is a big hit. Singing is also big. We have an auditioned chorale of 110 and an open choir of about 30.

The Adrian Senior Activity Center's most popular activities are line dancing, cards, pool and now Wii. Pretty much in that order.

The Eastside Senior Citizens Center's two biggest programs right now are Armchair Exercise and the Walk 100 Miles Program. The next biggest programs are our painting classes followed by Wii.
While seniors continue to participate in cards and board games, it is great to see more health and physical activity related programs increasing in popularity.
